Is it easy to buy a property there? My fiancee & I love all those quaint shophouses @ Tiong Bahru ( i hope I spelled it right!) area, and thinking of refurbishing it into a residential place. Do you think it would be easy to do that? Are there a lot of hassle and red tapes when it comes to dealing with bureaucracy there?

for foreigner for sure u can buy an apartment or condominium ( i did last year )
actually im not really sure about the shophouse because landed property only can be owned by Singaporean unless u re something here ..
maybe u can ask through the agency here
and if u want maybe i can help u to ask about that coz i have a lot of friend which working on the housing agency

So cool!!! Me & my fiancee do adore those derelict shophouses. They're quaint, but bursting with a LOT of possibilities.
I also like the fact that Lion City has many stores offering the mid-century furnishings such as Lorgan, Air etc ( well..granted, Air does not specialize in mid-century stuff but their offerings are quite mind-boggling).

Have you tried The Gallery Evason Hotel? some of my friends were there and they're absolutely raving about it saying that it's chic, sleek, HEAVY on the stylish side yet still cozy. Is it true? If it does, it must be worth a try!

Depends. Compare to the NYC or LA, Singapore's completely surpassess those two. Compares to Wash. DC, it's pretty much the same.
I would rate S'pore transportation system as 9 out of 10 in terms of convenience, cleanliness, affordability, comfort.
