Plot:
Disuatu tempat bernama Asgard, Thor yg akan dilantik menjadi raja dikejutkan dengan kemunculan makhluk asing di negerinya. Akibat kejadian tersebut, pelantikan Thor gagal. Thor mengajak adiknya Loki dan beberapa temannya untuk menyerang negeri makhluk asing tsb dan menuntut balas. Thor yang sedikit angkuh pun tanpa pikir panjang, bersama dengan teman2nya menyerang negeri tsb, namun mereka kalah jumlah dengan pasukan negeri tsb. Disaat2 genting, ayah Thor datang menyelamatkan mereka dan berhasil membawa mereka kabur. Akibat perbuatannya, negeri Thor dan negeri makhluk asing yg sudah sekian lama hidup rukun, terancam perang. Ayah Thor yg murka pun mengusir Thor ke bumi. Di bumi, Thor berkenalan dengan Jane Foster, Erik Selvig dan Darcy. Perlahan2 Thor menyadari kesalahannya dan mencoba memperbaiki sikapnya selama ini yg sombong dan angkuh...

Gue lagi nontonin TV series jadul. Merlin. Duh Colin Morgan unyu bgt terus Bradley James laki banget. Gue serasa pejuhsih kalo nonton ginian.

The Divergent Series: Insurgent (Robert Schwentke, 2015, USA)
Watched Insurgent yesterday, because that's what Lazy Sunday Afternoon is for.

As it so often happens in most films these days, the technical aspects of film-making are all together, there's a decent storyline floating around and the actors are doing their best, but the script - something that seems like it really should be in order before those other aspects are set into motion, is a hot mess of hallmark card cliches. not even the sublime Kate Winslet could raise the bar to make the film worth wasting a few hours of your time.

i watched The Giver recently - a film with a similar theme, and enjoyed it more, but i still think both films could have done a much better job of getting inside the ideas that Aldous Huxley's classic Brave New World pretty much nails. but in the case of Insurgent there is the added media blitz veneer that, well, merely remains veneer ... if someone could somehow combine the media ideas of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner with the gritty feel of Brave New World, well, that would be a perfect film on this theme

In short: don't bother.

Oh, did i mention the soundtrack?

No. I did not.

The soundtrack was not worth mentioning.

Nina Simone, Goddamm!!! What an incredible story and artist.

I only knew the voice and the civil rights activism. Didn't know about the piano--always figured someone amazing was playing with her. Well, someone amazing..was...

Thank God for giving us Nina Simone.
